Heliocentris receives delegation of hig -ranking government officials at IX Knowledge Economy Forum

17 May 2010

Heliocentris presented as best practice company at Frauenhofer MOEZ and Worldbank conference

Heliocentris Fuel Cells AG, a leading supplier of clean energy storage solutions, presented itself and its energy supply solutions to around 30 ministers and high-ranking government officials from economic and research ministries from countries in central and eastern Europe, Russia, the CIS and central Asia.

"Off-grid and local power supply is a central topic especially in central Asian countries with weak and fragmented energy infrastructures", explains Henrik Colell, CEO of Heliocentris. "Our solutions can be put to outstanding use there, as they provide power using solar and wind energy in a decentralized way. We have already implemented projects in the Gulf region and see another big opportunity in the CIS countries".

Heliocentris is experienced in the development and manufacture of autonomous power supply solutions, which have the potential to serve as clean and sustainable replacements for the diesel generators which have been common up to now. The Heliocentris solution is based on a combination of solar and wind energy generation and its storage in the innovative Heliocentris energy storage solutions consisting of an intelligent hybridisation of batteries and hydrogen fuel cells.

The Knowledge Economy Forum of the Worldbank has taken place annually since 2002. The Fraunhofer Zentrum für Mittel- und Osteuropa (MOEZ) from Leipzig acted as co-host of the ninth Forum in Berlin. Central topics of the 2010 forum were the diversification of the economy through innovation after the crisis and the international integration of science and the economy. The host country Germany - particularly German science and technology transfer institutions and innovative industries such as the automotive sector, machinery and plant engineering and energy and environmental technologies - was at the forefront.
